Location of Casualty Petitor, Babbacombe, Torquay

Service Report of possible 'jumper' from Petitor resulted in observation of someone

swimming near a 5 knot marker buoy. Police initiated a search via Coast Guard

shore teams. Lifeboat tasked to carry out a search of the shoreline and on

parallel tracks. Nothing found. Search terminated 12:30

Additional Notes Helicopter Rescue VA also tasked. Visibility not good with large fog banks

but calm conditions.

Location of Casualty 50 20.3N 003 23.7W

Service Yacht 'Sabrina' on passage from Weymouth to Dartmouth suffered engine

failure in strong South Westerly winds and was unable to make Dartmouth.

Yacht issued a 'May Day' to which the Coast Guard responded. ALB tasked

and returned yacht to Brixham

Additional Notes May Day downgraded to Pan Pan. Yacht and owner all OK

Location of Casualty 50 24.67N 003 21.82W

Service 24ft Sloop 'Noon Tide' suffered engine failure - report received as AWB

returned to moorings from previous shout. AWB launched to assist and bring

vessel to Brixham

Additional Notes Vessel location approx 7 miles East of Berry Head

Location of Casualty Initially 50 20N 003 31W

Service Dive Boat 'Jaffa' suffered engine failure whilst two divers still down. Jaffa

drifting away from Dartmouth Mewstone where the divers were down. ILB

tasked to locate divers. Divers found OK (see ILB report) and all returned to

Dartmouth.

Location of Casualty Dartmouth Mewstone

Service Dismasted yacht in vicinity of the Dartmouth Mewstone. Reported to be

between the land and the rock - quite a narrow channel. ALB launched to

assist.

Additional Notes Yacht taken in tow by another and returned to Dartmouth. Shout terminated at

20:39

Location of Casualty Paignton Harbour

Service Report of small boat travelling between Gas Works and Paignton Harbour being

swamped by waves - boat not seen arriving at Paignton Harbour.

Subsequently found boat was safe and being recovered - search stood down

at 20:18

Service Divers position marking bouy observed off Shoalstone beach but no one in

attendance. AWB launched to investigate - recovered gear belonging to a

Teignmouth diver previously lost and not reported.

Service Surf board washed up on Babbacombe beach - no sign of owner. Full coastal

search initiated - ALB from Hopes Nose to Babbacombe, shore teams and

Helicopter

Additional Notes Nothing found. Seaa conditions bad NE Force 6

Location of Casualty 30 nmiles SE of Berry Head

Service Single Handed Yachtsman near the Casquets Traffic Seperation Zone - in

difficulty due to loss of navigating equipment resulting in extreme tiredness.

AWB launched to locate him and provide assistance. Taken in Tow at 09:40

BST - arrived Brixham 14:15 BST

Additional Notes Coast Guard VHF Direction Finding gave a good fix on his position.

Service Small fishing boat 'Three Sisters' suffered engine failure in close

proximity to rocks. In danger of being blown on shore in NE breeze.

AWB tasked and with assistance from another local boat recovered

'Three Sisters' to Brixham.
