Location of Casualty 200 yards off Corbyn Head/Tor Abbey

Service Report of person having gone for a swim some 45 minutes ago - clothes still on

beach near Grand Hotel. Visibility reduced due to coastal mist - Both Boats

tasked to attempt to locate this person. ILB found him 200 yards off shore in a

bad way - recovered and transferred to AWB and paramedics before landing

him at Haldon Pier and awaiting Ambulance.

Additional Notes Crew including paramedics launched. Definitely a life saved.

Service Motor Vessel 'Caranga' with one person on board suffered engine failure. 'Pan

Pan' issued and another vessel standing by pending Lifeboat arrival. 16:40

lifeboat stood down - vessel under tow by another into the River Dart.

Service Launched to check three people recovered from a sinking speed boat did not

require medical attention. Drumbeat of Devon, Two Furlongs and Night Owl all

in attendance. Casualties OK. Speed boat sunk - little recovered.

Location of Casualty 2.3 miles ESE of Hopes Nose

Service Launched to 27ft Fairline Cruiser 'Shogun' reported as anchored with engine

problems and now taking water. AWB tasked with other yacht in the vicinity.

Two adults and two children on board in uncomfortable easterly conditions.

AWB took in tow to Torquay Harbour.

Additional Notes Winds were steady Easterlry Force 4 to 5 giving a moderate to rough sea.

Location of Casualty Seaward side of Orestone Rock - off Hopes Nose

Service Vessel reported to have run aground on the Orestone Rock. Both lifeboats

launched to their assistance. Number of other boats in the area also assisted.

Boat refloated with no visible damage and escorted part way to Teignmouth.

Location of Casualty 24 miles SE (118deg) from Berry Head

Service 38ft Yacht 'Zerkseus' on passage from Weymouth to Plymouth became

completely trapped with a fouled propeller and rudder and unable to get clear.

AWB launched to her assistance. Cut free and towed to Brixham.

Location of Casualty Off Elberry Cove, Torbay

Service Member of the public reported a small 'crabber' in difficulty. Winds quite fresh

easterly after days of calm. AWB launched and found boat on the rocks and

another assisting to remove ropes from propeller. Crew member put on board

to assist. AWB escorted tow back to Brixham.

Location of Casualty Paignton Pier and beach

Service Police at Paignton received a report that there could be two or three injured

people in the sea near the Pier - one injured person having been taken to

Torbay Hospital. AWB launched to illuminate and search area. Nothing found -

Search ended 02:57

Additional Notes ILB also launched to search area - Chivenor helicopter R169 launched and

searched area. Report was later found to be malicious at 03:!2.

Service Report of an overdue swimmer between Meadfoot Beach and Thatcher Rock.

Both boats launched to search. Found by 'Fly By II' at 16:37 - Search Stood

down at 16:40

Additional Notes 'Fly By II' is a Torbay Harbour RIB used on busy days.

Location of Casualty approx 50 27.4N 003 28.9W Vessel CDI pos.

Service Crew member on Trimaran 'Opus' required medical attention. ALB launched

with paramed on board and assessed casualty required urgent hospital

treatment. Two crew and dog transported to Haldon Pier, Torquay for onward

transport to A&E. ALB returned to yacht and towed her back into Torquay

Marina.

Additional Notes Vessel CDI guided ALB onto casualty on the Teignmouth side of Hopes Nose

Service Sports Boat 'Scallywag' reported loss of power as Lifeboat was exiting

Torquay Harbour from the previous incident. Coastguard tasked AWB to

investigate - 'Scallywag' returned under tow to Brixham

Location of Casualty 50 28.1N 003 22.5W - Above wreck 'Peron'

Service At 13:24 the Coastguard received a May Day from diving vessel 'Interconnect'

with a diver unconscious and requiring immediate medical assistance. Lifeboat

and Helicopters launched - motor vessel 'High Spirit' gave assistance. Casualty

airlifted to Torbay Hospital landing at 14:00.

Additional Notes This was a very dramatic event requiring many services to act together.
