Location of Churston Cove

Service The small fishing vessel 'Fusgon' was reported missing - AWB re-tasked to search between

Berry Head and the River Dart entrance. The ILB was also tasked to search within Brixham

Harbour and the adjacent coastline. Vessel located aground in Churston Cove by the ILB.

Search terminated at 22:50

Additional Notes Seven crew safe and with the vessel awaiting next tide..

Location of Holicombe area

Service A surf board with its sail set but unattended was found on Holicombe beach. Search initiated

with both lifeboats carrying out detailed shoreline search between Roundham and Torquay

Harbour..

Additional Notes A few of us were invited to the opening of a new restaurant 'The Prince William'. As the food was

served the pagers went off!

Location of 50 20N 003 04W

Service The 27 ft Motor Vessel 'Bad Dobby' suffered engine failure some 18 miles ESE of Berry Head.

Pan Pan issued but no suitable vessel available to take her in tow. With reduced visibility the

ALB was tasked and returned her under tow to Brixham.

Service As an evening exercise ended a Red Flare report was received. The ALB was tasked to

Roundham Head to check out but after firing a white flare it was established the flare was fired

overland. ALB returned to station.

Service Fishing vessel 'Sea Hunter' suffered engine failure approximately eight miles East of Berry

Head. No vessels in the vicinity capable of assisting her. ALB launched to her assistance and

returned under tow to Brixham

Service Launched in support of the ILB Police and Coastguard teams to search for a missing elderly

gentleman.

Helo RW169 joined the search later between Goodrington and Corbyn Head. Gentleman

located on shore at 22:30 approx and search stood down at 22:38

Location of 5 miles 120 deg from Berry Head

Service Launched to the assistance of a 55 ft sloop that had suffered engine failure some five miles ESE

of Berry Head. She was in difficulty with the rapidly increasing SW winds and requested

assistance. Returned under tow to Brixham

Location of River Dart?

Service Clothes were located on the South Bank at Dartmouth. The Police via the Coastguard requested

a search of the River Dart. ALB launched and 'Y' Boat deployed in a detailed search from the

Dart Castles to the Higher Ferry. Nothing found - search stood down at around midnight.

Additional Notes Search stood down when it was established the clothes had been by the River all day!

Location of Casualty Bearing 020 from Berry Head

Service Launched to investigate a single May Day call on a bearing of 020 from Berry Head. Exmouth also

launched to search the reciprocal bearing. At the mid point a detailed creeping line search was

carried out on the return track by both lifeboats. Nothing found

Location of Casualty Elerry Cove to Berry Head area.

Service A 'May Day' was issued by HM Coastguard following two separate reports of two red flares

observed over Torbay. Sightings were from different positions. Both lifeboats launched to search for

any vessel in difficulty. Detailed search but nothing found. Search stood down at 05:00

Service Following a report of a car having gone over the edge at Berry Head all SAR units were tasked to

investigate. ALB established search patterns consistent with tide and location and ILB joined the

search. Subsequently established from debris that the car was known to the Police as having been

dumped. Search terminated at 17:40.
