A 'Pan Pan' was
issued for the vessel 'Ice Prince' with twenty persons on board and
suffering a |
|
severe shift of
her cargo. The resulting 25 degree list to port in heavy sea conditions put
the |
|
ship at risk.
Salcombe and Torbay lifeboats and Warship Cumberland tasked together with
|
|
cargo ships on
passage nearby and Helo IJ from Portland. The list increased to forty
degrees. |
|
Twelve,
including a crew man with a broken leg were air lifted to Portland. The
remaining eight |
|
crew were
evacuated in extremely difficult conditions by Torbay Lifeboat and returned
to |
|
Brixham. The
vessel was left for a French Tug to resolve what should be done. |
