Location of Casualty Teignmouth side of The Orestone

Service 20 foot Open Fishing boat found by Fishing Protection Vessel at anchor half a

mile from coast and unoccupied. Search initiated in immediate area and

coastline. Vessel out of fuel and taking water. Coastguard shore team and

Police Helo assisted in search.

Additional Notes Alledgedly the owner made way to shore in an inflatable to get fuel and found

safe and well. Boat towed to Torquay - search called off.

Service See ILB Shout 59. Both boats providing safety cover to the 'Bothnia Stone'

whilst cargo stabilised

Additional Notes Looks like the annual delivery of timber to South Coast has occurred!

Location of Casualty 49 50.5N 003 24.9W       View the Bothnia Stone at rest in Torbay

Service 10000 ton Cargo vessel 'Bothnia Stone' suffered engine failure some 35 miles

due South of Berry Head. Winds in the area were Force10 with mountainous

seas resulting in the vessel going beam onto the sea and its cargo of timber

moving creating an initial list of >20 degs. Some 700 cu mtrs of Timber were

lost. Engines were restarted but Lifeboats tasked to escort vessel to Torbay.

Additional Notes Plymouth, Alderney and St Peter Port lifeboats plus CG Tug and two

helicopters also tasked. Alderney and St Peter Port released. At 04:00 approx a further

 list to almost 45 degs occurred and more timber lost. Made Torbay at approx 07:00.

Plymouth refuelled (breakfast and fuel) at Brixham before heading home.

Service Overturned dingy reported off Dartmouth Castle. Tasked to investigate.

Additional Notes Dingy found to be a tender - no one found in search - assumed to have broken

free in high winds.

Service Yacht on passage from Salcombe to Dartmouth with ETA of 14:00 reported

overdue. Search initiated. Some information received re possible engine failure.

Additional Notes Shortly after launch yacht observed re-entering Salcombe - search called off.

Service Vessel thought to be in trouble being taken out to sea in River Dart entrance

Additional Notes Dingy outboard apparently failed and boat was swept down river but engine

was restarted and they self recovered to shore ok.

Service Day Boat 'Yelow' suffered severe engine failure and skipper

suspected a fire within the engine compartment due to large amount of

smoke. Lifeboat tasked to assist. No fire but a lot of oil in bilges.

Taken in tow to Brixham Marina

Additional Notes Crew had just assembled for a PR event when shout initiated

Service Yacht 'Seven Hills' suffered a seized engine and unable to make

headway. Securitee broadcast drew responses which were not suitable.

Additional Notes Yacht towed to Dartmouth for repairs. We seem to have spent all day

around Dartmouth!

Service Kite surfers reported to be in difficulty off Blackpool Sands (south of

River Dart entrance). Kite surfers located and identified on Torcross

Beach having self recovered about 1 mile SW of Blackpool

Additional Notes Lifeboat about to enter Brixham Harbour when call to assist came. See

Previous Shout for Info.

Regatta Yacht Race suffered fouled propellers  and unable to get rope

clear. Towed to Dart entrance where tow taken over. For Info Only

- entrance fees donated to RNLI

Service Person apparently in difficulty swimming across the River Dart

between Kingswear and Dartmouth

Additional Notes Made shore under own steam but taken to hospital for check up. Last

night of the Regatta.
