Location of Casualty Churston Cove

Service The ILB was re-launched after recovery from the previous shout to search for the

missing fishing vessel 'Fusgon'. Search concentrated on Brixham Harbour and

adjacent coastline. Vessel located aground in Churston Cove at 22:49. AWB also

searching further along the coast towards Dartmouth.

Additional Notes Seven crew safe and with the vessel awaiting next high tide.

Location of Casualty Holicombe Beach

Service A surf board with its sail set but unattended was found on Holicombe beach.

Search initiated with both lifeboats carrying out detailed shoreline search. Nothing

found and search terminated around 21:40

Additional Notes A few of us were invited to the opening of a new restaurant 'The Prince William'. As

the food was served the pagers went off!

Location of Casualty Approx 2 miles North of Berry Head

Service A 19 foot speedboat 'Monica II' suffered engine failure. Position a little unclear but

directional bearing established using DF Radio from Berry Head. ILB located the

vesel and returned her under tow to Brixham Marina

Service Launched to search for a possible body in the water reported by a member of the

public. Search concentrated in the area of Paignton Pier towards Preston.

Detailed search of area but nothing found. Search stood down at 10:00.

Location of Casualty Approx one mile east of Livermead.

Service Whilst recovering the ILB after exercise the Coastguard received a phone call

from a broken down speedboat with four people on board. ILB was re-launched to

their assistance. Vessel located and taken in tow to Torquay Harbour where they

were met by the HM Coastguard team.

Location of Casualty Livermead area

Service Two young girls were reported to be trapped by the tide at Livermead Headland.

ILB tasked and recovered them safely, albeit cold and wet, to Torre Abbey Sands

where they were met by HM Coastguard.

Service Launched following Police request to HM Coastguard following discovery of

clothes and antidepressant drugs. Detailed search of coastline from Brixham to

Broadsands. Search by ILB terminated at 12:20

Service Launched in support of Police and Coastguard teams to search for a missing

elderly gentleman.

Helo RW169 joined the search later between Goodrington and Corbyn Head.

Gentleman located on shore at 22:30 approx and search stood down at 22:38

Service Launched to recover two teenage girls cut off by the tide on the Livermead side of

Corbyn Head. Girls recovered and transferred back to Corbyn Head beach where

they were met by the Coastguard.

Location of Casualty Savage Hole, Roundham Head

Service Launched to recover an 11 year old boy cut off by the rising tide at Roundham

Head. On arrival at Savage Hole two lads were observed eight to ten feet above

the breaking sea hanging on to the cliff. They were very cold and wet, Swell

remained from strong winds in the morning. The ILB Crew recovered them in

three manoeuvres and returned them to Paignton Harbour where they were

reunited with their parents.

Additional Notes They were hypothermic and had suffered injuries on the rocks. The second lad

had gone to the assistance of the first. They were lucky.

Location of Casualty Peak Tor (East of the Imperial Hotel)

Service An elderly gentleman fell on steps at 'Peak Tor' - a small cove accessed by around

150 steps - and seriously injured his leg. The Coastguard and Ambulance Paramedics

requested evacuation by sea. ILB tasked and transported the injured man to Torquay

Harbour to an awaiting ambulance.

Location of Casualty Meadfoot then Dawlish!

Service Launched following a report of a seven metre power boat 'Maverick' in dfficulty near

Meadfoot Beach. On arrival at Meadfoot it was confirmed the Power boat had

managed to make its own way only to break down off Dawlish. It was recovered by

Teignmouth lifeboat.

Additional Notes Strong SW winds.

Service A 'May Day' was issued by HM Coastguard following two separate reports of two red

flares observed over Torbay. Sightings were from different positions. Both lifeboats

launched to search for any vessel in difficulty. Detailed search but nothing found.

Search stood down at 05:00

Service Launched to assist in the recovery of a body at Marine Parade Preston. In

view of conditions with the sea breaking heavily against the sea wall the AWB was

also tasked to assist following situation report from Helo Whisky Bravo. Body

recovered by HM Coastguard.

Location of Casualty Small Cove East of Elberry Cove

Service Following yesterday's unsuccessful search for a missing person (Shout 2) it was

agreed to resume this morning. ILB launched to a search plan together with

Coastguards and Police.

At 10:55 a canoeist arrived at the Boat House and reported a body located in a cove.

All resources retasked to this location. Missing male located and after SOCO checks

body removed by ILB Crew to Paignton Harbour.

Additional Notes Approximately 2 miles due South of Roundham Head where coat was found.

Service Launched to investigate object observed floating some distance off Roundham Head.

Understood to be a jacket belonging to a missing male. Extensive Police Operation

initiated. ILB search patterns established between Paignton and Broadsand. Helo

RW169 joined search.

Additional Notes Search stood down at 19:05 but Police Operation continues

and harbours from Meadfoot to Livermead. Nothing found - search terminated 11:37
