Location of Casualty Paignton Beach

Service Report received from the Police of an adult and child possibly in need of

assistance 40 metres from the shore at Paignton Beach. Both lifeboats tasked

together with the pleasure boat Dart Princess. After a number of searches no

problem found - search stood down at 21:21 hrs.

Service A member of the public reported a Jet Ski in difficulty off Roundham Head - cries

of Help were heard. ILB tasked to incident. Jet Ski and owner returned to Paignton

Location of Casualty Between Thatcher Rock and Meadfoot

Service Launched to assist in a medical evacuation of an injured young man aboard a

ketch. He had a possible head injury after hitting a deck structure. Two ILB crew

boarded the vessel to attend him during a short run into Torquay Harbour.

Additional Notes Met by ambulance and transported to Torbay Hospital

Service Reports received of a capsized dinghy near Broadsands. Other vessels and ILB

Location of Casualty Rock face to the south of Berry Head.

Service A member of the public reported a man entering a cave at Durl Rocks (South side

of Berry Head) and after some time had elapsed had not seen him emerge. ILB

tasked to check on his safety. Found to be a fully equipped and skilful rock face

traverser in no trouble. ILB returned to station.

Additional Notes Climber apologised for not ensuring some one knew his intentions.

Service With a fairly strong Westerly wind an inflatable was observed having difficulty

reaching shore. A person entered the sea to assist. ILB tasked to the pair but both

were recovered by others.

Location of Casualty Brixham Fish market

Service A fisherman was seen to fall from the fish market onto the deck of a beam trawler.

ILB tasked to assist with a doctor amongst the crew. Casualty recovered to a

waiting ambulance apparently not too seriously injured but taken to hospital for a

check over.

Service Launched to recover a lady who had fallen on rocks near Shoalstone Pool and

suffered injuries requiring medical evacuation. Recovered and transferred to a

waiting ambulance at the boathouse.

Service Launched to a lady cut off by the tide on the rocks near the Berry Head Hotel. ILB

recovered her and transferred her to Shoalstone Pool.

Service Launched to an apparent collision on the River Dart. It appears a speedboat with

three men on board ran into a moored cruiser between Waddeton and Sandridge

Boat Houses. Injuries sustained by three people who were recovered to the

cruiser and another vessel. One seriously injured air lifted to Derriford and the

others taken to Torbay. ILB with AWB assisted in recovery to shore of the injured

people.

Additional Notes Fortunately the sea was calm enabling a good passage for the ILB on the 12 mile

journey to the casualty position.

Location of Casualty 0.75 mile N of Brixham breakwater

Service Murphy the dog - a young black Labrador decided to breakaway from his master

and jump into the sea at the end of Brixham Breakwater. He then proceeded to

swim North for three quarters of a mile where he was found by the crew of the

yacht Lady Isabella. A crew member entered the water to try and recover the dog

but could not do so. ILB tasked and recovered Murphy all OK back to the boat

house and a reunion!.

Service A member of the public at Babbacombe became concerned for two swimmers

who appeared to be drifting out to sea. ILB tasked to locate and check out the

swimmers. All found to be OK.

Additional Notes There had been a strong wind shift at the time from a gentle easterly on shore to a

strong westerly off shore in a matter of minutes.

Location of Casualty Paignton Pier

Service Following the discovery of a pile of clothes on Paignton Beach the Police and HM

Coastguard requested a search of the shore line. ILB tasked and carried out

detailed search. When the clothes were examined in more detail they were found

to contain a number of personal items. The search was escalated and more

resources tasked.

Additional Notes The AWB and Helo WB joined the search later. Missing person found in a B&B in

Paignton. Search terminated at 08:47.

Location of Casualty Fishcombe Cove, Brixham

Service Launched to a report of a capsized tender and a man in the water at Fishcombe

Cove. Gentleman recovered to his yacht, which was anchored in the cove, by the

ILB crew. The tender, yacht and her owner were assisted into Brixham Harbour.

Additional Notes The tender appears to have been damaged on rocks while the owner was ashore

and had developed a leak.

Service Reports received by HM Coastguard of a wind surfer signalling for assistance off

Paignton Beach near the Pier. ILB tasked to the windsurfer. The windsurfer was

assisted ashore at Preston where he was met by the Coastguard shore team.

Location of Casualty 200 yards off Brixham Breakwater end.

Service A local fishing boat found an unoccupied tender tied to a marker buoy with

clothes, mobile phone, fishing rod and a warm engine. Concern raised re the

occupant and the ILB and Oscar 4 tasked to investigate. During the investigation

a JetSki returned to harbour with two persons claiming to be the owner of the

tender. All OK.

Additional Notes Tender owner given Safety Advice by HM Coastguard.

Location of Casualty Cliff Face below Daddy Hole Plain

Service Launched to assist in the recovery of a man who fell on the cliff face at Daddy

Hole Plain. Only quick access to his position was by the ILB Paramedic who gave

first aid. Helo called in to carry out evacuation to a waiting ambulance.

Coastguard Cliff Team also assisted.

Additional Notes Casualty suffered a broken wrist and severe bruising to his ribs. Spinal injury

assumed for the evacuation.

Service Launched to a report of youths rowing erratically in the vicinity of the 5 knot

Service Report received from the shore that an inflatable seemed to be acting strangely

with a person on board and going toward the rocks in St Mary's Bay. ILB tasked -
