Location of Casualty St Mary's Bay

Service Four children were reported to be cut off by the rising tide on rocks to the north of St

Mary's Bay towards Landscove. ILB tasked to their assistance. Individuals self

recovered by swimming back to St Mary's as the ILB arrived. Children all OK.

Location of Casualty Goodrington North

Service The pleasure boat Brixham Belle III observed an inflatable with two children on board

in danger of grounding on rocks. ILB tasked to them but the pleasure boat recovered

them before arrival. ILB collected the children and returned them to their parents on

Goodrington South Sands all OK

Location of Casualty Within Brixham Harbour

Service Crew who attended the launch to assist the Anna and who did not crew either of the

lifeboats commandeered the marina work boat. We had almost a full team in the

harbour to assist her alongside - this record is to keep the count correct. See ALB

Location of Casualty Off Brixham Breakwater

Service As yachts began to take shelter on the Fastnet race the 53ft yacht Anna with a

Russian crew lost her mast and rigging. They were unable to make harbour safely.

Both Torbay Lifeboats launched to her assistance and returned her to Brixham

Harbour

Additional Notes Near Gale Southerly and torrential rain.

Location of Casualty In Harbour adjacent to Breakwater

Service A speedboat with five on board suffered a fuel problem within Brixham Harbour. ILB

already tasked and no other boats able to respond hence Station Boarding boat used

to recover them to the slipway.

Location of Casualty Brixham Marina

Service A person maintaining their boat on the Brixham Marina fell and dislocated his hip

ending up in the bilge. The ILB with paramedics attended. He was given substantial

pain relief before being removed on a stretcher and carried back to the slipway on the

ILB and an awaiting ambulance.

Service Two Police Officers observed a red flare and its smoke trail over Torbay. ILB tasked

to the area with HM Coastguard shore team overviewing but nothing found. Extensive

search area covered in perfect visibility conditions and glassy sea.

Service ILB launched on exercise and shortly afterwards was diverted to a broken down

speedboat near Meadfoot Beach. ILB towed speedboat with five people on board

back to Torquay Harbour. ILB then resumed exercise.

Service Launched following a report of four youths possibly cut off by the tide at the north end

of Hollicombe Beach towards Oil Cove. Found to be local lads fishing and in no

difficulty. ILB returned to station

Location of Casualty Off Hollicombe Headland

Service Launched in response to a report of a missing windsurfer. The windsurfer was thought

to be on a track between Paignton and Brixham and had not been seen for around

one hour. ILB carried out a shore line search and the ALB located him. ILB

subsequently returned him to Preston Beach after a detailed check by Paramedic.

Service Launched to assist in the evacuation of a lady from Churston Cove. Lady transferred

on a stretcher aboard the ILB to the Boat House and an awaiting ambulance for

onward transfer to Torbay Hospital.

Location of Casualty South of Berry Head

Service Report to HM Coastguard by a member of the public that a person was in difficulty in

the sea South of Berry Head. ILB tasked and located two cliff climbers who were

using the sea as a safety net when they fell. ILB checked all was OK and returned to

station.

Service A member of the public reported what appeared to be a 'tender' apparently

unoccupied off Hopes Nose. ILB tasked to investigate and located a tender

approximately 1 mile ESE of Hopes Nose. There was no sign of any recent

ocupants, no oars or outboard. Tender returned under tow to Brixham.

Location of Casualty Corbyn Head

Service Launched to recover two adults with a dog cut off by the tide at Corbyn Head. One of

the party was suffering from an asthma attack requiring medical assistance. Crew

Paramedic and Dr gave assistance. They were landed at Haldon Pier where they were

met by HM Coastguard and an ambulance.

Location of Casualty Seven Quarries

Service Launched to assist the speedboat 'Tail Spin' with four people on board that had

run out of fuel and anchored in the vicinity of Seven Quarries. ILB returned the 17ft

craft to the Breakwater Slipway.
