Location of Casualty Off Preston beach

Service Launched to the report of a windsurfer down on his board and being blown

from Preston towards Torquay. ILB tasked. Wind surfer located, and recovered

to the ILB. He was returned to Preston Beach where he was met by HM

Coastguards suffering from the cold - given a welcome cup of coffee..

Additional Notes Near gale SSE wind conditions at time.

Location of Casualty 1 Mile SE Thatcher

Service Launched to search for a Kite Surfer apparently in difficulty South East of

Thatcher Rock. Expanding Box Search pattern dictated to crew by HM

Coastguard followed by shoreline search. 18:56 Kite surfer reported safe and

well - member of the local Kite Surfing School. Search terminated.

Additional Notes Helo WB tasked and HM Coastguard teams joined search.

Location of Casualty Assumed Torquay seafront

Service Search initiated by the Police for a missing person in Torquay. The extensive

search by HM Coastguards and ILB Crew concentrated on the coastline and

harbour areas from Livermead to Daddyhole and ran for several hours. Police

Helo joined search around 09:00. ILB released at 10:38. Search terminated at

11:02

Additional Notes Sea conditions deteriorating making ILB search difficult. ALB joined search at

09:30. Missing person found at daughters house

Location of Casualty St Mary's Bay

Service Close to midnight a pile of clothes were found on St Mary's Beach with

footsteps leading to the water. Detailed search of the beach and coastline

initiated. ILB eventually requested to join search.

Additional Notes Just before 3 am the owner of the clothes was identified and found to be at

home in Bridgwater.

Location of Casualty Elberry Cove

Service Launched to an 18 foot Dory running in circles and out of control near Elberry

Cove. Allegedly stolen and person pulled from water by the Pilot Boat with

Police on board. ILB launched to check no others involved or in the water and

recover Dory. Dory returned to Brixham Harbour and handed over to the police.

Service Launched following request by the Police to assist in a very long and detailed

search along the shoreline and woodland areas for a lady allegedly missing in

the Churston/Broadsands area of Torbay. Lady located at 18:05 by Portland

Helo - found in a very serious condition - taken by Helo to Torbay Hospital.

Additional Notes Search involved Police Helo, HM Coastguard teams, Police and Portland Helo.

Service Inflatable with two people aboard reported as being blown off shore in strong

SW winds. Pan Pan issued and ILB tasked. Inflatable self recovered at 16:21.

ILB stood down at 16:21.

Service Person reported in difficulty off Goodrington (Quay West) in an inflatable. ILB

Location of Casualty East end of Breakwater Beach

Service A member of the public observed five young boys in difficulty clambering around

a small headland near the lifeboat station and alerted us. They were in some

difficulty due to the rising tide and increasing wind battering them against the

rocks. ILB immediately tasked but they recovered themselves all OK.

Location of Casualty One mile east of Berry Head

Service Whilst the ILB was acting as a safety boat for the Classic Offshore Power Boat

Race in Torbay an unoccupied small boat was observed off Berry Head. ILB

tasked to investigate. Found to be a tender and taken in tow by others. ILB

returned to guard duty.

Additional Notes Shortly after the tender was reported missing by its owner.

Location of Casualty Paignton Harbour/Pier

Service HM Coastguard received a 3x9 call from a small hire motor boat apparently

broken down with the occupants all unable to swim and panicking. Sea and

wind conditions perfect. ILB retasked with an ETA of 17:17 including the

transfer of the previous casualty.

Motor boat made its own way to Paignton Harbour at 17:18 - shout stood down

Location of Casualty Hopes Nose, Torquay

Service The Ambulance service requested assistance to evacuate a man with a

fractured ankle from Hopes Nose, Torquay. It is a long steep climb nack to the

road from where he fell. ILB tasked and man transferred to Haldon Pier, Torquay

for onward transfer to Torbay Hospital.

Location of Casualty Meadfoot Beach, Torquay

Service Inflatable reported as being blown off Meadfoot Beach, by the off shore North

Easterly wind, with two children on board.

ILB tasked. Shortly after launch a wind shift blew the inflatable back towards the

beach. HM Coastguard subsequently confirmed all safe. ILB returned to station.

Location of Casualty Corbyn Head, Torquay

Service Coastguards received report of three people cut off by the tide at Corbyn Head,

Torquay. ILB diverted from previous shout and recovered the people concerned.

They were returned to Torquay Harbour where they were met by the

Coastguard team.

Additional Notes This weekend twelve individuals at least have learnt the tide rises in Torbay!

Service Coastguards received a report of a 'long' unidentified object floating in the sea

about half a mile off Shoalstone Beach. ILB tasked to investigate Found to be an

old windsurf board. Taken in tow to Brixham but tow interrupted by shout 14

Additional Notes Lifeboat 52-36 on passage recovered the board on approach to Brixham,

Location of Casualty Livermead end of Gasworks Beach.

Service Five children age from six years upwards trapped by the incoming tide on the

rocks at the north end of Gas Works beach. Coastguard team and ILB tasked to

collect them and return them to the beach. All returned OK.

Additional Notes Not unexpected - it has been a fabulous day for weather. Many people on the

shore line.

Location of Casualty Roundham Headland

Service A small fishing boat observed a number of young people about to enter the

water as the tide rose to get back to Goodrington. The young people were

encouraged to stay put whist the fisherman called the Coastguard. ILB tasked to

recover these young people. Four girls returned to Paignton Harbour by ILB all

OK

Additional Notes There were a large number of people on the headland as the tide rose but no

further problems.

Service Launched to recover and transfer a casualty with a twisted knee from St Marys

Bay to Brixham Harbour and an awaiting ambulance.

Additional Notes St Marys Bay beach is only accessed on foot by over one hundred steep and

irregular steps.
