Location of Casualty Sugar Loaf Hill

Service ILB launched on a search for a missing person whose car had been located close

to shore. ILB joined HM Coastguard team at Paignton Harbour for briefing. During

the briefing the missing person was located on Sugar Loaf (Near Goodrington)

and recovered to an ambulance. ILB returned to station.

Location of Casualty Armchair Rock

Service Launched following a report from Ambulance Crew of a girl having suffered back

injuries whilst tomb stoning at Armchair Rock, Goodrington. ILB assistance

requested with spinal board and stretcher to transport her back to Broadsands

and an awaiting ambulance.

Additional Notes HM Coastguards tasked to a number of locations re concern over tomb stoning

youngsters.

Location of Casualty Hollicombe/North Preston Beaches

Service With fresh to strong SSW winds a windsurfer got into difficulty off Hollicombe

Beach. ILB tasked to his assistance. Windsurfer helped ashore by the ILB where

he was met by HM Coastguard

Location of Casualty Coastline to Sharkham Point

Service Both lifeboats launched on a missing person search Search concentrated on the

coastline from the Brixham Breakwater to Sharkham Point. Nothing found.

Location of Casualty Meadfoot Beach - Thatcher Rock end

Service Launched to search for a missing person thought to be in the vicinity of Daddy

Hole Plain. ILB Crew observed a person meeting the description in a shelter

adjacent to Meadfoot Beach. HM Coastguards and Police immediately diverted

and confirmed it was the missing person. Search stood down at 19:39 and ILB

returned to station.

Additional Notes ALB on PR tasking also joined search.

Location of Casualty Meadfoot Beach, Torquay

Service Launched to report of Kayakers in difficulty near Meadfoot Beach due to the strong

wind and choppy sea. The Kayakers reported as in difficulty recovered

themselves to the beach however the ILB located another requesting assistance.

He was safely assisted into the beach at Meadfoot.

Location of Casualty 3 miles East of Hopes Nose

Service ILB diverted to an 18 foot speedboat 'lost' in fog but able to give his position. A

cabin cruiser and the ILB went to his position and the ILB escorted them back to

Torquay.

Location of Casualty Big Mac Rock, Beacon Cove

Service Launched following a '999' call reporting children apparently in danger in an

inflatable. ILB found many children diving into the sea and a kayak left on the rock

by the falling tide. ILB checked nearby coastline before being diverted to the next

shout.

Additional Notes A very fine and hot afternoon with little wind. But thick fog in the Channel

Location of Casualty Dartmouth Mewstone

Service At request of the Police both lifeboats launched on a missing person search in

the vicinity of the Dartmouth Mewstone. Whilst on passage to the Mewstone the

missing person was located in a local hospital. Search stood down.

Service Launched following a '999' call to HM Coastguard reporting a man cut off by the

tide at Corbyn Head. He was recovered by the ILB to the beach where he was met

by HM Coastguard and the person who raised the alarm

Location of Casualty Livermead Cliffs - Hollicombe end

Service Four children were observed climbing on the rocks at the Livermead end of

Hollicombe Beach. They were not observed returning as the tide came in and it

was soon established that they were cut off. ILB tasked and recovered them back

to the beach all OK. They were met by HM Coastguard.

Location of Casualty Passage across Torbay

Service HM Coastguard re-tasked the ILB to meet and escort 'Lady Elizabeth' (ALB Shout

23) into Torquay Harbour and her berth at Torquay Marina. The yacht was met by

HM Coastguards and safety advice given.

Location of Casualty Torre Abbey, Torquay

Service Launched to report of a wind surfer in difficulty at Torre Abbey Sands, Torquay. ILB

made an uncomfortable trip across Torbay. Windsurfer located but he reported

he did not require any assistance. ILB stood by whilst he made shore safely. ILB

then re-tasked to the 'Lady Elizabeth' (ALB Shout 23). See ILB Shout 25.

Location of Casualty 50 26.24N 003 32.06W

Service Launched to a small inflatable suffering failure of its outboard engine. Reported to

be a quarter mile off Hollicombe. Two teenage lads recovered to the ILB and

returned together with the inflatable to Paignton Harbour. The fresh NW wind took

them well away from the shore line before the ILB reached them.

Additional Notes The teenage lads were equipped with snacks for the weekend.

Location of Casualty Churston Point, Broadsands

Service Launched to assist in recovery of an enthusiastic Labrador puppy trying to move

seagulls. The puppy became trapped in a small cove at Churston Point,

Broadsands. ILB recovered puppy to her owners all OK!

Location of Casualty 0..5 miles SE of Roundham Headland

Service Launched to a 17 foot speedboat with four young men onboard and suffering

engine failure. A fairly stiff NNW wind at the time was taking them away from

shore and into rougher water. ILB tasked to their assistance and returned them

under tow to Paignton Harbour.

Location of Casualty Brixham Harbour

Service The Yacht Dolly was attempting to get into Dartmouth following an engine failure.

Due to the strong wind and tide she could not get in close enough for assistance.

HM Coastguard suggested she return to Brixham with more favourable entry. HM

Coastguard requested assistance to bring the yacht into harbour safely. Boarding

boat met her at the entrance and put her alongside.

Location of Casualty Torquay Harbour

Service The ILB was attending the Honda Power Boat Racing at Torquay when a man fell

and injured himself on the South Pier Pontoon. ILB tasked to evacuate him to

Haldon Pier Pontoon and an awaiting ambulance which is a much easier access.
