A timeline of the construction of the Torbay Lifeboat Station Pontoon. There will be many photographs taken - the timeline includes just a few to give an overview.

Wednesday 5 September Torbay Lifeboat leaves the mooring position adjacent to the station after nearly 77 years in this position.  
5 September to 7 September Falmouth Divers move the fore and aft mooring to a position towards the end of the breakwater but sheltered by the old oil jetty.
5 September to 7 September John Martin Construction - the main contractors - establish the site office and facilities.    
Monday 10 September Construction Site marked out and boundaries established. Heavy Plant delivered to site.  
Tuesday 11 September Barges and floating platform brought into position and hard core delivered.    
Wednesday 12 September Working platforms constructed and first two barges of dredge material loaded and transferred to the main drying area
Thursday 13 September Dredging paused whilst make up of the dredge material is compared with original samples - there appears to be a  difference  
Week ending Friday 28 September to Wednesday 17 October Dredging running at best speed and datums set for the project.  
Tuesday 16 October  Pontoon, Link Span and shore connection delivered to Baltic Wharf, Totnes
Tuesday 16 October Link Span transported to Dartmouth to await calmer sea conditions and then Torquay on Wednesday morning    
Wednesday 17 October Pontoon delivered by sea to Brixham and dredging completed subject to final survey. One barge departs.  
Thursday 18 October Divers inspect ground and granite prepared to form shoreline edge     
Friday 19 October Shore side facility cleared to receive link span - delivered from Torquay and craned off.  
Monday 23 October Link Span connection delivered and work continues preparing shore side foundations  
Friday 26 October Divers finish Gabions, final concrete pour for shore side foundations and mooring system being prepared.
Monday 29 October Positioning sinkers commences. There are eight to be positioned precisely and a further eight acting as a backup restraint
Tuesday 30 October Sinker placement continues and shore connection placed in position
Wednesday 31 October Pontoon brought into approximate position and moorings attached whilst ballast added to trim levels.
Thursday 1st November Link Span connection made! A great effort by all concerned
Friday 2nd November - all major heavy work is now complete - the site will be cleared and the final detail wiring, plumbing and fitting is expected to bring the system into commission on or around Friday 16th November. Look out for pictures of the completed project around this date. 
Thursday 15th November Pontoon in use - some ballasting to be completed and services added - almost there!
