The Lifeboat Open Day - Raft Race 2007
| This event ran over
three hours with heats and a final 'tug of war'. There are many photos of
this event and here are just a few to give you a flavour of what looks
like becoming a major annual event. The basic idea is for each team to
construct a raft using supplied items of rope, six poles and four barrels.
Then launch the raft and paddle around a course with the total time taken
determining the placing.
For this year the two fastest teams
then held a water borne 'tug of war' with the two rafts tied together.
Teams entering this year were Anglers, Police, Fire, Coastguards, Lifeboat
Crew and Lifeboat Operations Team.
The winners were Torbay Lifeboat
Operations Team despite attempts to sabotage them! Congratulations to
Mark, Jon, Ron and Paul
The photos will give you the theme
and idea - see you next year on Sunday 27th July - look out for the entry
